Amazon Web Services
2004-10-24

Picked up a link to musicplasma via blogging on Jeff Bezos' presentation at Web 2.0. This is an interesting app, I can't say if the visualisation is actually going to get me to buy anything, but it runs fast and looks different.

Amazon web services are a tough one to figure out: on one hand, they are an invitation for people to build on top of Amazon as a platform, which is a very current idea (very web 2.0). On the other hand, I have to expect Amazon will incorporate anything that works into their own offering, at least anything like the example above. Someone who can bring a community to Amazon which can't easily be co-opted will have a legitimate business, but anyone else will just be doing unpaid market research.

Also: Searching for "Belle and Sebastian" yields artists like Patti LaBelle, The Belles and Johann Sebastian Bach. Hmmm.
