I started using backpack a few months ago, and I love it for three reasons. Firstly, I am a satisfied customer: it is a cinch to create todo lists and itineraries and then share them out. Secondly, this is just the kind of low-end tool that addresses the (considerable) gap between the back of a napkin and a more heavyweight software solution (gant charts, spreadsheets etc). Lastly, it is free. Not even ad-supported free, but _free_. And it has some great siblings. In the same "online workspace and collaboration" genre are thinkature, which has a really sweet free-form diagramming UI, and ConceptShare. I have only played around with these, but they both look cool. I think the biggest barrier to these types of apps being more widely used and depended on are data worries, particularly: i. will these guys be in business tomorrow? And ii. is my top secret plan safe? I also worry about their ability to make money off this, particularly given how much I like the free service, so enjoy them while you can! |
